Music Monday: Musical Guilty Pleasure

I havent jumped in on Music Mondays yet, so today I thought I would......would come clean. I have ridden myself from alot of secular music just because Im in a season where I need to feed my soul. And some of the music I like is sort of like "junk food".

Im more of a hard rock/punk rock kinda girl. I like Metallica, Tool, Beastie Boys, Ozzy Osborne, the Cure. Honestly, I grew up on this stuff. (Seriously, my mom recently went to a Tool concert-she is still a hard rocker!)

So I choose to play a song called "Nothing Else Matters" by Metallica, and a song called "SABOTAGE" by the Beastie Boys.

I've got a fair string of hard-rocker in me, too. As someone who played drums for many years, there's just a lot of fun to be had in this genre.

SABOTAGE! Boy, did the Beastie Boys ever grow (in a good way) from their original style?

Euphrony, the Beastie Boys sure did grow from their orginal style!

Maybe you can answer a question for me Euphrony. I have never found a "Christian" version of this type of music that I enjoy. Can you think of any (Christain) bands that parallel with hard rock?

There's a couple - don't know if I would recommend them all as good or just alternatives with a Christian bent. POD is one that has not catered to the CCM industry, but makes no secrete to their Christianity and its influence on their music. Another you might check out is High Flight Society - relatively new, and their web site is a joke, but the music has a good sound. Decyfer Down is one I would recommend. Disciple has been popular, for good reason. On the more rap side, I don't know so much. KJ-52 has been compared to a Christian Emenim.
